INFOBALT, Lithuania’s leading digital technology association representing over 150 members across business, academia and the public sector, is organising a high-level roundtable discussion in Brussels on the EU Digital Omnibus and its implications for Europe’s digital economy, AI development and competitiveness.
The discussion will bring together representatives from Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, including officials from the Baltic Permanent Representations to the EU, Members of the European Parliament, European Commission as well as business, technology and media stakeholders. With the legislative process accelerating the aim of the roundtable is to offer timely and practical exchange on how the Digital Omnibus can simplify Europe’s digital rulebook while preserving innovation, investment, privacy, user choice and sustainable digital business models.
While framed as an administrative simplification exercise, the Digital Omnibus touches core structural tensions in Europe’s digital economy. The central policy dilemma is whether proposed simplifications inadvertently create new compliance deadlocks, centralise market power, or undermine the broader European competitiveness agenda
